Creating SMS Groups: A Step-by-Step Guide

In this detailed guide, we'll walk you through the process of creating, managing, and deleting SMS groups using the PanTerra Networks Admin Portal. Whether you're setting up groups for marketing campaigns, customer notifications, or internal communications, this tutorial will help you efficiently manage your SMS groups with ease.

Setting Up a New SMS Group

To get started, ensure that your SMS DID (Direct Inward Dialing) is enabled and linked to an active campaign. If you need assistance, our LNP team at LNPadmin@PanterraNetworks.com or our support team is ready to help.

  1. Access the Admin Portal: Log in to your account through the Admin Portal.
  2. Navigate to SMS Groups: From the top navigation bar, select “Account Level Service Manager,” then click on “SMS Groups.”
  3. Create a New Group:
    • Click on “Actions” and select “New Group.”
    • Enter the group name (e.g., "Training").
    • Set the group type to "SMS."
    • Provide a Group Mail ID (an admin email address or a distribution list).
  4. Define Group Attributes:
    • Select the state and area code from the dropdown menu (e.g., Illinois).
    • Choose the appropriate DIDs (Direct Inward Dialing numbers) by checking the relevant boxes and clicking “Add.”
    • Select the primary or default number for responding to SMS messages.
  5. Add Users to the Group:
    • Select users by checking the boxes next to their names and click “Add.”
  6. Assign Billing Groups:
    • Choose a billing group that manages billing statements for specific office locations or groups.
    • Select the default or an appropriate invoice group.
  7. Save the Group: Click on “Actions” and then “Save.” Confirm the prompt to apply changes.

Editing an SMS Group

Editing an SMS group is simple and can be done to update details such as the primary SMS DID or group members:

  1. Select the Group: From the SMS Groups section, select the group you wish to edit.
  2. Make Changes:
    • Update the primary SMS DID or make other necessary changes.
    • Adjust user permissions, such as allowing or restricting the ability to change SMS DAD.
  3. Save Changes: After editing, click “Actions” and “Save,” then confirm the prompt to apply your updates.

Deleting an SMS Group

To delete an SMS group:

  1. Select the Group: In the SMS Groups section, choose the group you wish to delete.
  2. Delete the Group: Click “Actions” and then “Delete.” Confirm the deletion when prompted.

Please note, deleting an SMS group does not remove the users from your account. They will remain in the account pool and can be added to other groups as needed.
